The Tax Management Association of the Philippines (TMAP) held its first International Tax Summit (ITS) last August 29, 2024 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Attys. Raegan L. Capuno and Carlos Nicole J. Recto took part in the event representing SRMO. TMAP is the premier organization of tax practitioners in the Philippines.

With the theme “Shaping a Sustainable Tax Leadership”, the summit was graced by Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, and BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui, Jr.

Among the topics discussed during the summit were Ease of Doing Business in ASEAN, Tax Enforcement Practices in ASEAN, Tax in Mergers and Acquisitions, Ethics in the Tax Profession, and BEPS 2.0 in Action. Also discussed were the recently enacted tax laws such as the Ease of Paying Taxes Act and the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act and the pending tax bills such as VAT on digital transactions, the CREATE MORE, Passive Income and Financial Intermediary Taxation bill, and the Single-Use Plastic bill.
