Mr.  Edgardo G. Balois is a General Partner of the Siguion Reyna, Montecillo & Ongsiako. He heads  the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. He is a specialist in Mergers and Acquisitions and business formation and with expertise in the labor and employment issues arising therefrom.  He acted as Philippine Counsel for Fraport AG in its investment dispute with the Republic of the Philippines before the ICSID.

He has been rated as leading lawyer, recommended lawyer, recognized leader  in his field by various legal publications such as Chamber & Partners, IFLR, Asia-Pacific Law 500, PLC Which Lawyer, Chambers Asia, Asia Law Profiles and Global Law Asia. He was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for Business Formation Services in 2018 by Advisory Excellence and  Corporate INTL declared  him Award Winner  2023 in two categories namely Company Law Expert of the Year and as Corporate M&A Expert of  the Year .

He sits in the board of various companies both local and foreign-owned engaged in the business of power, oil and gas, packaging, memorial park, business process outsourcing, data processing and distribution of electro equipment. He is also the corporate secretary in many of these corporations. He also serves as resident agent for foreign companies.

He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Makati West, District 3830 (RY 2012-2013) and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Makati City Chapter (1997). He is a member of German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry since January 2009

He served as a member of the Board of Advisers from 2012 to 2015 of TAGLaw, a worldwide alliance of independent law firms with more than 140 member firms in nearly 100 countries with more than 9,000 lawyers.

He took his undergraduate studies in the Divine Word University, Tacloban City, Philippines major in English, Philosophy and Political Science, and graduated with honors – Magna Cum Laude (1970). He is a graduate of the College of Law of the University of the Philippines, number 10 in his class (1975) and ranked 17th in the 1975 bar exams.

He is a member of the Order of the Purple Feather, an honor society of the UP College of Law and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Gamma Mu   International Honor Society.
