Elita Joy P. Quicho
Atty. Joy P. Quicho has been practicing Commercial Law since 2004. As a Commercial Law practitioner, Joy has rendered legal advice and transactional assistance to both Philippine and foreign clients on a wide-range of issues. She enjoys working on cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, project finance, and mergers and acquisitions involving such industries as telecommunications, energy and power, online gaming, banking and property development.
She was heavily involved in major due diligence projects of the firm on several key players in the pharmaceutical, cement, offshore banking, business process outsourcing, maritime tourism and online gaming industries.
Joy’s practice also includes dealings with Philippine regulators such as the Philippine Stock Exchange, Bureau of Internal Revenue and Securities and Exchange Commission, among others, as well as being appointed as corporate secretary and director for various Philippine incorporated companies. Joy also has experience in commercial litigation and has represented Philippine and foreign clients in matters relating to intra-corporate disputes, corporate rehabilitation, debt recovery, corporate fraud and breach of government contracts.
Joy earned her undergraduate degree in Legal Management (with honors) from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1999. She went on to take her bachelor’s degree in law in 2003 from the University of the Philippines, the Philippines’ premier state university, graduating with a bronze medal for academic excellence. She was also a member of the Order of the Purple Feather, the University’s Honors’ Society for the College of Law. She was admitted to the Philippine bar in 2004. She was invited to join a major law firm in the Philippines, straight out of law school and was promoted to Senior Associate shortly thereafter. Immediately before joining the firm in 2008, she was based in Singapore, as a Foreign Legal Advisor (specializing in cross-border Corporate/Commercial matters) for Kelvin Chia Partnership, a notable Singapore law firm.
